Chatham Station

Wedding and event venue in Cary, NC

SAY
Hello

Summer Weddings

Bethany & Daniel

November 23, 2022 by Chatham Station

For their wedding in June of 2022, Bethany and Daniel came to Cary, NC from out of state and chose Chatham Station as their venue. Needless to say, we were delighted to host them. It was a small, sweet Sunday ceremony, and the weather was absolutely perfect – for gathering, for photos and for “I Dos.” Bethany wore a form fitting gown that was stunning, with plenty of lace and she even had glittering shoes to match. The couple shared their first look at Chatham, and then had plenty of time for outdoor portraits around downtown Cary, with photographer J. Hagan.

Theirs was a small, private ceremony that was followed by a reception, and they filled our modern industrial venue with a classic navy and gold palette, complete with touches of greenery. Bethany and Daniel shared their own private farm house style sweetheart table that was decorated with golden geometric candle holders, white linens and more greenery.

Along with the couple’s wedding cake – and its custom Mr. & Mrs. Kenyon topper, guests were treated to a variety of cupcakes, including chocolate with espresso, vanilla with coconut, chocolate with cookies and cream, and more. We love that these two also used Chatham Station’s herringbone back drop accessorized with gold hoops and florals for their ceremony and for portraits.

Congratulations to Bethany and Daniel and cheers to their new life together!

The newlyweds and Chatham Station are happy to share the vendor list with you.

Emily & Harrison

October 19, 2022 by Chatham Station

If a vision for a wedding was more carefully wrought and executed, we haven’t seen it in some time. Details, planning, inclusion of so many of their loves found their way to the big day. This wedding had every single thumbprint of the pair and it was such a blast to watch unfold in June of 2022. But first, let us introduce you to Emily and Harrison.

The Couple

They met during Emily’s Senior year at Meredith College in February of 2020. Can you see the first trial they were going to have to endure? Their first date nearly derailed them when trying to park in downtown Raleigh. They dined at Taverna Agora and then found that they bonded over NC State Football games. Both have lifetime rights to the same football section, and had probably crossed paths many times before finding each other.

Since Emily was never able to show Harrison the campus at Meredith, in October of 2021, she made a point of introducing him formally to the place of so many happy memories for her. Together they toured the campus, with her guiding him to favorite spots and once they reached a fountain on campus, Harrison proposed to her. She said yes before he even finished his speech.

They planned their wedding at Jones Chapel right at Meredith College.

A First Look

The couple took a moment before saying their public “I Dos” to have a private moment together. They read each other personal notes and shared a laugh.

The Details

After the wedding at Meredith College, the reception took place at Chatham Station with the palette of pale blue and white. Everything was coordinated and beautiful. These two also really included their guests in the day. They shared a list of all of their favorite places for entertainment and food that related to their relationship (first date, favorite brunch spot, favorite picnic location, etc.) so that guests could visit and enjoy those same spots while in town for the wedding.

They had a “newsletter” program for the day, with remembrances, the evenings’ itinerary, their vendor list and even a custom crossword puzzle with Emily and Harrison trivia. It was a such a sweet and fun idea. Instead of a guest book, each guest was asked to write down a special memory they’d shared with Emily and Harrison.

The Party

Both the bride and groom danced with their moms after their first dance together. In fact, Harrison is such a great dancer, he led the way all night and kept the floor hopping.

Guest enjoyed cocktails and catering from 39 West Catering, and after a final private dance between the couple, Emily and Harrison were sent off into their new life with sparklers and confetti.

Congratulations to these two wonderful souls and cheers to many happy years ahead.

The newlyweds and Chatham Station are happy to share the vendor list with you.

Zulyha & Chris

October 5, 2022 by Chatham Station

Chatham Station loved hosting Zulyha and Chris for a bright and beautiful reception and party that celebrated not only them as a couple, but made everyone involved feel wrapped up in the celebration as well. These are two of the nicest humans we’ve ever met and their vision for the event, and their intention to make the party about everyone, really came to fruition.

The Couple

Once Zulyha and Chris realized that they’d had enough of waiting for Covid to end in order to get married, they took matters into their own hands and eloped to Marfa, Texas. During their private nuptials and getaway, they took in Big Bend National Park, where they explored and made their first memories as newly minted bride and groom. Photographers Brett & Jessica created a gorgeous story about their time in Marfa and the elopement prep and execution that is worth checking out.

The Theme

Zulyha is a breath-worker and jeweler, and she is deeply creative just generally. Drawn to textures and colors, she made sure that they were incorporated into every aspect of their reception at Chatham Station. We used both the indoor and outdoor spaces, with ultimately everything springing from some tassels that Zulyha found in Mexico. The magnetic vibrancy of these elements – from the bride’s earrings to the place settings, to the decor and florals – made everyone feel as if they’d fallen through a portal into the heart of Mexico or the Southwest.

We hung tassels from the patio lights which were also wrapped in greenery. There were also wooden tables for congregating guests, a fun and colorful lounge set up by the entrance for everyone to enjoy, and coordinated florals everywhere. Colorful centerpieces with florals and citrus made for a unique departure from the classic southern arrangements, and the patterned plates, napkins and other elements came together seamlessly.

The Second Private Ceremony

Since their parents were unable to be in Marfa when they eloped, Zulyha and Chris had a small ceremony offsite at their AirBnb as a surprise for their parents. Afterwards, they headed to Chatham Station via trolley and the party began in earnest with a cocktail style reception. There were passed appetizers for guests, followed later by taco stations, an enormous champagne tower and Mama Bird’s ice cream cart.

The guests had such fun dancing and hanging out on the patio up until the last song where the couple departed by trolley!

We wish these two glorious people one long, happy and continuous party for many years to come. Congratulations Zulyha and Chris!

Eddie & Derrick

September 21, 2022 by Chatham Station

Eddie and Derrick met each other at UNC Chapel Hill 30 years ago. They were brothers of Kappa Psi – a pharmaceutical fraternity. Last year, there was a surprise wedding proposal on campus, something Eddie worked for a full year to pull off. There wedding also had a surprise element!

The couple told their friends they were throwing a “30th Anniversary Party,” and invited them to Chatham Station to celebrate. Guests showed up to enjoyed hors d’oeuvres, make new memories, capture fun images in a photo booth, and enjoy dinner.

During the various speeches and toasts, two of Eddie and Derrick’s friends started sharing how much love was between this couple, and how they brought out the best in each other. Next another friend came to the front to give a toast about how much they deserved happiness, and then added: “You know what, everyone is here, I’m ordained, let’s just get married. What do you say?” The whole room exploded with applause, cheers, and tears.

The grooms then made their way to the center of the dance floor with rings and vow books, and suddenly  everyone realized this was the plan all along. They then had their ceremony!

Eddie is a wedding planner, and planned the entire occasion himself. From the Chapel Hill details, Carolina blue invitations, signature drinks, and other elements of surprise, it was such a warm, fun and beautiful day.

Rocky Top showed up with amazing hor d’oeuvres including BBQ Beef Short Rib Potato Baskets, Shrimp and Grits Shooters, Chicken & Waffles, as well as Roasted Tomato Bruschetta. They also chose to do two stations for dinner that included all options at each to help move guests through the lines quicker.

James Taylor’s “Carolina In My Mind” was played during the cutting of their spectacular five tier wedding cake. Each tier was a different flavor, and Ashley Cakes did an incredible job incorporating the Chapel Hill theme, as all the vendors did. Finally they had their first dance together to “Then Came You” and then invited their friends to join them. Dancing carried this couple and their guests through to the very end.

Congratulations Eddie & Derrick! We loved hosting your special day.

Kaitlyn & Matt

September 7, 2022 by Chatham Station

Married on June 25, 2021 in a ceremony that took advantage of both the indoors and out at Chatham Station, Kaitlyn and Matt are a beautiful couple, and boy did they have an absolutely beautiful day.

While the bridal party prepared at the Mayton Inn nearby, the guys relaxed at the Bond Brother before arriving at Chatham to get ready themselves.

The First Look

Kaitlyn and Matt shared a first look at Chatham station, and Matt’s excitement was palpable. Kaitlyn’s gown was a stunner and the wait was worth it. Following the first look, the wedding party grabbed images and took advantage of the patio, the sunshine and our setting.

Immediate family also arrived for pre-ceremony photos, allowing Kaitlyn and Matt more time to take photos after the ceremony at the Page Walker House.

The Ceremony

The vows took place indoors in front of our fan wall. Chatham’s herringbone backdrop was banked with gorgeous blooms that coordinated with the bridal bouquets. The ceremony itself included piano versions of songs the couple loved, and it was incredibly romantic.

The Party

The touching wedding ceremony was followed by a cocktail hour, where guests spilled onto the patio to enjoy hor d’oeuvres and signature drinks. Guest tables were set with beautiful linens, votive candles and tall floral arrangements. The couple also had custom match boxes with their names as guest favors.

Kaitlyn and Matt also made sure that guests had plated salad ready for them so the couple could share a first dance and get more photos. It allowed everyone time to relax and reconnect.

Their wedding cake was created by a family friend, but there was also a donut wall where everyone grabbed some sweetness in between toasts, dancing and the sit-down dinner. Later in the evening, Kaitlyn and Matt surprised everyone with a Bourbon Tasting Bar. It was a hit!

The final send-off was a beautiful sparkler exit that was even more dramatic thanks to the tent and market lights. After the couple shared a private last dance, their parents surprised Kaitlyn and Matt with a bike taxi/rickshaw ride back to their hotel. This wedding was a knock out. Congrats to you on your new chapter in life, Kaitlyn and Matt!

Junele & Stephen

August 24, 2022 by Chatham Station

On August 8th of 2021, Junele and Stephen were married at a wedding like no other! Their energy should be bottled, and on this day, this couple were absolutely the best.

Junele and Stephen both wore green shoes on their wedding day, a fun touch considering that green was their signature color. Green was everywhere and absolutely beautiful. Extra draping was added throughout the ceremony space and reception area in deep green. Their floral arrangements were extravagant, lining the aisles and later used as the table centerpieces. Add chandeliers, candles and touches of white, and Chatham Station was transformed.

Junele walked down the aisle escorted by her mother and father, who also officiated the ceremony. The bride also made her son a significant member of the bridal party, the occasion, and the day. He stood next to Stephen during the ceremony. The couple were moved to tears during their vows, and when it was time for the bride and groom to kiss, Junele covered her dad’s eyes … adorable.

The Reception

Green and gold continued to set the tone for decor, with candlesticks in gold tapers, velvet napkins and lovely green linens. The atmosphere though was also joyous. This wedding party had so much energy. The reception was a party!

These two love karaoke, so it was a party of the reception, and Junele’s performance with her parents was a hit. Games, dancing, toasts and a sparkler send off completed the day.

After the ceremony the whole wedding party joined Junele and Stephen at the cinema where they took photos.

The newlyweds and Chatham Station are happy to share the vendor list.
