Chatham Station loved hosting Zulyha and Chris for a bright and beautiful reception and party that celebrated not only them as a couple, but made everyone involved feel wrapped up in the celebration as well. These are two of the nicest humans we’ve ever met and their vision for the event, and their intention to make the party about everyone, really came to fruition.

The Couple
Once Zulyha and Chris realized that they’d had enough of waiting for Covid to end in order to get married, they took matters into their own hands and eloped to Marfa, Texas. During their private nuptials and getaway, they took in Big Bend National Park, where they explored and made their first memories as newly minted bride and groom. Photographers Brett & Jessica created a gorgeous story about their time in Marfa and the elopement prep and execution that is worth checking out.
The Theme

Zulyha is a breath-worker and jeweler, and she is deeply creative just generally. Drawn to textures and colors, she made sure that they were incorporated into every aspect of their reception at Chatham Station. We used both the indoor and outdoor spaces, with ultimately everything springing from some tassels that Zulyha found in Mexico. The magnetic vibrancy of these elements – from the bride’s earrings to the place settings, to the decor and florals – made everyone feel as if they’d fallen through a portal into the heart of Mexico or the Southwest.
We hung tassels from the patio lights which were also wrapped in greenery. There were also wooden tables for congregating guests, a fun and colorful lounge set up by the entrance for everyone to enjoy, and coordinated florals everywhere. Colorful centerpieces with florals and citrus made for a unique departure from the classic southern arrangements, and the patterned plates, napkins and other elements came together seamlessly.

The Second Private Ceremony

Since their parents were unable to be in Marfa when they eloped, Zulyha and Chris had a small ceremony offsite at their AirBnb as a surprise for their parents. Afterwards, they headed to Chatham Station via trolley and the party began in earnest with a cocktail style reception. There were passed appetizers for guests, followed later by taco stations, an enormous champagne tower and Mama Bird’s ice cream cart.

The guests had such fun dancing and hanging out on the patio up until the last song where the couple departed by trolley!

We wish these two glorious people one long, happy and continuous party for many years to come. Congratulations Zulyha and Chris!
