Shelby & Josh

December 7, 2022 by Chatham Station

Shelby and Josh are Star Wars fans to say the least, and planned their big day for May 14, as in “May the 14th be with you.” If you know, you know, and since May 4th was a Wednesday, it was a no go. For this incredibly fun wedding, there were subtle nods to their favorite movie franchise throughout.

The couple chose not to have a first look, and instead shared their first special moment when Shelby walked down the aisle. Instead the bride got ready with mom and sister, shared a first look with her father, and a first touch with husband-to-be Josh.

The Ceremony

Shelby and Josh had their ceremony out on our patio at Chatham Station and the space was covered in by a lovely clear tent. Brides: these are helpful if weather is uncertain, but they are also beautiful when decorated well. It offered such an elegant look to the patio when draped in the market lights. The couple used our herringbone backdrop, draped with the most beautiful floral arrangements.

After the ceremony, Shelby and Josh sneaked off with photographer Danielle James to get images around downtown Cary.

The Party

Inside Chatham Station it was bright and elegant with white linens, the sun streaming in from the bay doors and simple florals and touches. Tabletops were decorated with arrangements from Colorfields that were absolutely stunning.

Shelby and Josh’s wedding cake was perfectly elegant and simple – topped with florals and greenery. Guests were treated to an ice cream bar from Andias, with their famous (and delicious) homemade flavors and abundance of toppings.

The ice cream bar was not the only show stopper, though: the bride and her dad treated everyone to a fun father daughter dance that guests loved. The newlyweds also danced with a prop image of their dog, and played the shoe game where guests were able to learn more about their relationship in a humorous way.

For the final send-off of the pair, guests got out their light sabers and it was epic!!
Congrats Shelby and Josh! May the 14th be with you always.

The newlyweds and Chatham Station are happy to share the vendor list.

Bethany & Daniel

November 23, 2022 by Chatham Station

For their wedding in June of 2022, Bethany and Daniel came to Cary, NC from out of state and chose Chatham Station as their venue. Needless to say, we were delighted to host them. It was a small, sweet Sunday ceremony, and the weather was absolutely perfect – for gathering, for photos and for “I Dos.” Bethany wore a form fitting gown that was stunning, with plenty of lace and she even had glittering shoes to match. The couple shared their first look at Chatham, and then had plenty of time for outdoor portraits around downtown Cary, with photographer J. Hagan.

Theirs was a small, private ceremony that was followed by a reception, and they filled our modern industrial venue with a classic navy and gold palette, complete with touches of greenery. Bethany and Daniel shared their own private farm house style sweetheart table that was decorated with golden geometric candle holders, white linens and more greenery.

Along with the couple’s wedding cake – and its custom Mr. & Mrs. Kenyon topper, guests were treated to a variety of cupcakes, including chocolate with espresso, vanilla with coconut, chocolate with cookies and cream, and more. We love that these two also used Chatham Station’s herringbone back drop accessorized with gold hoops and florals for their ceremony and for portraits.

Congratulations to Bethany and Daniel and cheers to their new life together!

Zulyha & Chris

October 5, 2022 by Chatham Station

Chatham Station loved hosting Zulyha and Chris for a bright and beautiful reception and party that celebrated not only them as a couple, but made everyone involved feel wrapped up in the celebration as well. These are two of the nicest humans we’ve ever met and their vision for the event, and their intention to make the party about everyone, really came to fruition.

The Couple

Once Zulyha and Chris realized that they’d had enough of waiting for Covid to end in order to get married, they took matters into their own hands and eloped to Marfa, Texas. During their private nuptials and getaway, they took in Big Bend National Park, where they explored and made their first memories as newly minted bride and groom. Photographers Brett & Jessica created a gorgeous story about their time in Marfa and the elopement prep and execution that is worth checking out.

The Theme

Zulyha is a breath-worker and jeweler, and she is deeply creative just generally. Drawn to textures and colors, she made sure that they were incorporated into every aspect of their reception at Chatham Station. We used both the indoor and outdoor spaces, with ultimately everything springing from some tassels that Zulyha found in Mexico. The magnetic vibrancy of these elements – from the bride’s earrings to the place settings, to the decor and florals – made everyone feel as if they’d fallen through a portal into the heart of Mexico or the Southwest.

We hung tassels from the patio lights which were also wrapped in greenery. There were also wooden tables for congregating guests, a fun and colorful lounge set up by the entrance for everyone to enjoy, and coordinated florals everywhere. Colorful centerpieces with florals and citrus made for a unique departure from the classic southern arrangements, and the patterned plates, napkins and other elements came together seamlessly.

The Second Private Ceremony

Since their parents were unable to be in Marfa when they eloped, Zulyha and Chris had a small ceremony offsite at their AirBnb as a surprise for their parents. Afterwards, they headed to Chatham Station via trolley and the party began in earnest with a cocktail style reception. There were passed appetizers for guests, followed later by taco stations, an enormous champagne tower and Mama Bird’s ice cream cart.

The guests had such fun dancing and hanging out on the patio up until the last song where the couple departed by trolley!

We wish these two glorious people one long, happy and continuous party for many years to come. Congratulations Zulyha and Chris!

Olivia & Matthew

August 10, 2022 by Chatham Station

Chatham Station hosted the wedding of Olivia and Matthew in March of 2022, and we wouldn’t necessarily say that they are “rule breakers,” but this duo pulled off a wedding celebration that was as cool and colorful as the pair themselves. Colorful confetti, a turn table and records, a daylight ending to the wedding, these two did things THEIR WAY, and we were here for every bit of it!

First Look

Matthew shared a first look with his mother, while Olivia had one with her father, and then the pair saw each other pre-ceremony. Their photographer Atlanta Dahlia captured them dancing around and got the aforementioned pic of them at the color block mural in Cary. The images of them dancing really show off Olivia’s mermaid gown and also just how deeply in love these two are.

The Ceremony

Olivia and Matthew included subtle pops of color during the ceremony with florals in white and pale pink and bits of burgundy. Colorful confetti was thrown when they finally shared their first kiss as husband and wife. The bridesmaids’ gowns were sparkly and gold, as were the bride’s shoes, and Olivia also wore a stunning hair accessory that complimented her stylish look.

The Details

The gilt color palette, with bursts of colored confetti, the textures of florals, fabrics (the bridesmaids dresses were as amazing as Olivia’s gown) were absolute perfection. March still has an cool feel, but with the hope of spring. This wedding had that vibe in spades.

The fresh berries on their wedding cake were a great touch and in keeping with their pops of color. For the reception, they had a live band, put out the guest book and record player for everyone to enjoy and let the party commence. After the ceremony, Olivia changed into a little white dress, and she and Matthew scampered off for more pictures and even got ice cream to share in downtown Cary.

Congratulations to this gorgeous couple and cheers to many, MANY happy decades together!

Keisha and James

June 29, 2022 by Chatham Station

January 30th of this year saw the uniting of two beautiful families, and Chatham Station had the privilege of hosting and witnessing their new year nuptials.

A Family Affair

This day was not just about celebrating the union of Keisha and James but also their combined new family, including James’ son and daughter, and Keisha’s two daughters. We love a wedding that multiplies the joy with extra players… it was intimate and yet felt like an event. Keisha and James were keen to make sure the kids felt involved.

Prep Time!

Kiesha, along with her mom and daughters, got dressed and enjoyed some girl time in our bridal suite. Keisha wore a lace gown with an open back, lace illusion side cutouts, and a beautiful train. With her hair, jewelry, flowers and big smile, she was a knockout bride.

The Ceremony

Keisha’s father walked her down the aisle, where James was sporting an enormous smile. James and Keisha said their vows in front of our expansive brick wall (a favorite of brides and grooms) and they decorated the alter space with a massive array of blooms and greenery.

The couple had each of their children participate in a sand pouring ceremony to unite the families – with each member of the family adding their own individually colored sand. It was a lovely visual metaphor.

The newlyweds walked back down the aisle followed directly by their children to the song “We are Family.”

The ceremony space was replete with florals and the effect was spectacular. Aisles were marked with floral hoops, and then lined with floral arrangements. The epic floral backdrop for the vows was later repurposed for the couple’s table for the reception.

The Reception

While the most prominent colors were purple and gold, the florals were a collection of roses in pale pink, peach, light purple, and white, combined with light blooms and fresh greenery. This wedding also had a “Our Greatest Adventure” theme and guests were seated at tables featuring favorite or special locations that the couple had traveled to together.

The reception space was set up using elegant farm tables with golden legs, and tables held a few extra touches including a collection of gold candle holders, floral arrangements, gold rimmed chargers, menus, and table markers.

Keisha enjoyed both dances with her husband James as well as with her dad before dinner. After dinner, they cut their cake on a table featuring pictures of their parents. Guests enjoyed the rest of the evening at the photo booth and dancing and moved outside to heated seating areas or enjoyed the lounge set up inside.

While Keisha had beautiful white heels for the ceremony, she traded them out for comfortable purple and black jordans for the reception that matched James’ shoes!

All the best to Keisha, James and their beautiful family. Chatham Station loved hosting your incredible wedding and wish you many happy years ahead.

Odofoley & Ron

June 15, 2022 by Chatham Station

Odofoley and Ron planned a gorgeous morning wedding, and on the morning of New Year’s Eve at Chatham Station, they were wed! The decor was complete with touches of gold, black, white and rich red, but the atmosphere was magic. It was an intimate and elegant ceremony followed by brunch, where everyone celebrated this beautiful couple.

Odofoley’s gown had lace details on the bodice and sleeves, a jeweled belt, and a chiffon skirt. It was perfect for a winter wedding, and everyone kept talking about her sleeves. The wedding flowers were a collection of blooms including white roses, calla lilies and greenery, and Odofoley’s bouquet was not only exquisite, but the blooms matched the lace on her gown. The effect was lovely.

The Ceremony

The golden backdrop with cascading lights was absolutely perfect for these two on the last day of the year. Everything was awash in golden light. Even with an intimate group of attendees spread out, and everyone masked, the ceremony was everything you’d want – sweet, celebratory and heart-felt.

The Brunch Reception

For their small guest list, we divided the ceremony space from the reception space with a curtain that created a greater sense of intimacy. And these two were Covid-conscious, providing personalized masks with their names on them for each guest.

The space looked amazing as well, with a gold backdrop of cascading light, table-scapes with gold chargers, red napkins, and menus.

While this was a brunch wedding, it included all the customary traditions like a cocktail hour with passed appetizers, a lovely first dance to the song “Spend My Life with You,” and cake-cutting. It was clear that the couple was so focused on each other that it was like no one else was in the room. In addition to wedding cake the couple had a variety of fun cupcake flavors for guests to enjoy.

Odofoley and Ron, along with photographer Martha Smith Tillery, were able to get stunning pictures in front of Town Hall and the Court House here in Cary, still decorated from the Christmas holidays. They also took advantage of one of our favorite spots: the theatre marquee! They even had their names placed for the occasion.

A Swanky Exit

Ready for 2022 as newlyweds, these two departed Chatham Station in style, and by style, we mean a Rolls Royce. Guests sent them off with cheers and mini confetti poppers. Congratulations, Odofoley and Ron! Here’s to many happy decades of marriage and days of joy.
